Have been trying to think of a poignant, witty, relevant entry for my last of 2008 but the thing is- when I aim for erudite- I end up asinine.
So- here are some random thoughts as we close out 2008:
I started out the year with two boobs, no cancer and an infant.
I was smoking.
We [...]

I guess early, chemical induced menopause makes you punny- just prior to the insane hot flashes, psychotic mood swings, squashed libido and beard…
Yes- went to see Doc Fischer today- the oncologist and got started on my Arimidex+Lupron combo of “HORMONE therapy” (Not technically any form of “pill chemo”) He answered about 700 questions [...]

So, it’s the middle of that weird period between Christmas and New Years- where one big holiday is done but another is pending. It’s like “Okay, let’s re-open stores and some government agencies but not all and we won’t jump back into anything ambitious yet…” I’m feeling the same; the toys are unpacked, [...]

*** QUICK ASIDE OF INSECURITY: Have been hearing from a few people about the blog and am heartened because I often am convinced I’m merely babbling away here, in the internet equivalent of my shower- where I do much of my babbling- and no one is listening. If you would be so kind- [...]

HERE is my Christmas-food poisoning haiku: (in honor of my 100th entry)
Double exit fluid

Our Christmas tree is dying.
We’ve been watering it but it just keeps getting drier and … melting. The branches are sagging toward the floor and it’s periodically spitting off ornaments like sunflower seed shells.
oh yeah- it also has a cricket. The cricket’s name is “Pick Up”. (Thank you, Max.) “Pick Up” has a [...]

So- my favorite (affordable) mommy escapes are spending countless hours in thrift stores- sorting through rack after rack of garments drenched in that freakish thrift store smell- for the odd gem- a pair of 70’s snakeskin patterned lounge pajamas- a beat up Who t-shirt for Max… and at least 4-5 giant, super soft [...]

Went to Max’s X-mas concert today and it was awesome, as always and, as always- the worst behaved were the parents. We’re in the church and Pastor Tricia (who rocks) just finishes announcing that we need to keep the aisles clear for fire codes and please everyone stay in your seats… Then the [...]

My recent boob issues have sparked a few women in my life to get mammograms. I am glad. It’s one of the reasons I’ve been doing this blog and so verbal about it all. (Other than an intense need to write talk about myself incessantly.) Anyway- in thinking about them I’d also like [...]
